Mark Chapman
Managing Director
Mark wrote his first software for homecare in 1988, and he has been involved in community care IT ever since. Over the years Mark has written three community care scheduling systems and a call monitoring system. Before getting involved in care software he wrote systems for local authorities, trades unions, investment banks and many other businesses.

For three years while setting up StaffPlan he worked part-time for Carewatch, installing StaffPlan Roster in about seventy of their offices round the UK. Nowadays Mark doesn't write software as often as he would like, but retains responsibility for architecture of the StaffPlan portfolio.

He spends a lot of his time at care conferences and travelling the UK (and occasionally further afield) talking to care providers. He believes that technology has an important part to play in personalising care and improving the efficiency of care provision.

Outside work Mark is a keen (though often injured) athlete, with a best marathon time of just over 2:45. Within the company Mark has a reputation for his, errr, interesting tastes in music.

Mark is a Fellow of the RSA and is very proud that people say that StaffPlan are a company that care about care.
Louise Johnson
Operations Director

Louise became a StaffPlan Director in January 2007, having joined the company in January 2004 delivering training and support.

Having spent 3 years travelling the length and breadth of the country gathering stories of cows on boats and having the east coast main line as a second home she now rarely strays from the office concentrating on the day to day happenings in StaffPlan. Louise likes to keep her hand in though and will often be found helping out on the support desk.

Louise has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors having previously worked with Scottish Borders Council Social Work Department, as part of the Information Systems implementation team. During her time at the Council Louise worked on implementing many systems the last being StaffPlan Roster. Louise is committed to trying to make a difference to people’s lives through her work and her desire to make caring for those in need easier.

Outside work Louise enjoys speedway - although these days from afar – and will bore anyone who wishes to listen about the thrill of men riding in circles with no brakes or gears.

Ian Horman
Business Development Director

Ian many years experience in the homecare software market and has been with StaffPlan from the beginning. He now leads the Business Development team dealing with account management.

Outside of work - when not tied up with his young family - Ian is a passionate (although quite short) volleyball player and plays at National League level.

Simon Burrows
Lead Software Developer

Simon has been working for StaffPlan for more years than he cares to remember and therefore bears the scars from working in Mark’s garden shed ("home office") before the company had grown to a size worthy of brick walls.

Together with lead developer responsibility for StaffPlan Roster, OnCall and various internal systems including StaffPlan’s in-house CRM portal (interchangeably known as CASSIA or "the support site"), Simon has been involved in just about every aspect of the company’s activities at one time or another, including training and presenting at user groups. He also has honorary membership of the support team for "knowing some useful stuff not many people know"(tm).

Out of the office, Simon can be found at a least a couple of gigs each month and buys more CDs on eBay than there is time in the day to listen to. A huge Arsenal fan, he has attended several matches at the Emirates Stadium this season, though still has 44,467 people ahead of him on the season ticket list. If you run into Simon at the pub, he’s likely the be breaking even on the quiz machine or breaking the window next to the pool table.

Will Calderwood
Senior Software Developer

Will has been at StaffPlan since April 2003 when the company was still based in a shed at the bottom of Mark’s garden. It’s been a fascinating journey working with a fast growing company and dealing with all the problems that presents.

His main role at StaffPlan is working on projects that revolve around the monitoring solutions we provide and interfacing with 3rd parties. There’s not much monitoring related that he doesn’t get involved with, so everything from Telemonitor, through to the VOIP solutions and cutting edge mobile solution we provide, StaffPlan Connect, He’s been involved in design and development.

When he’s not slaving away in the office one of his main passions is unfortunately software development. He’ll often get back from a day’s work and then settle down in front of his home PC for some R&D into new technologies. His other passions are good food, travelling and the natural world. He’ll also throw in a bit of rock climbing and snowboarding for good measure.

Currently within StaffPlan Kate is our lead implementer, concentrating on major or specialist implementations, where she is a safe pair of hands to ensure the customer gets the most out of StaffPlan’s product range.

Based in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside Kate is use to the long hours that come with travelling the country to visit clients as she has a long standing love of horses. Peter Turtle
Developer

After studying physics at Imperial College and some vacation research work in the engineering laboratories of the CEGB Pete decided a proper desk job was the order of the day so it was on with the learning cap again as a trainee actuary. He soon found money rather a dull subject and moved sideways into actuarial management, then briefly ran his own consultancy company for the benefit of companies trading in unwanted endowment policies. Now, really bored with money, he decided to pursue a career in his long term hobby of software development and wound up two years ago at this fun place to work, no looking back.
